Fulcrum Acoustic recently provided sound reinforcement gear for the First Annual Southern New England Music Networking Conference in association with Sound Session 2010, a week-long summer music festival in Providence, RI. The event, held at the Providence Black Repertory’s Xxodus Café, attracted musicians from across New England to share their artistry, network with other musicians and club owners, and to discuss the state of the music industry.
A pair of Fulcrum DX1295 loudspeakers, powered by a Lab.gruppen fP10000Q amplifier, and a Fulcrum US221 subwoofer, powered by a Lab.gruppen fP9000 amplifier, provided sound coverage for the main stage. A BSS Soundweb London BLU-160 was used for processing and an Allen & Heath MixWizard WZ3 16:2 mixer was brought in for front of house.
“While typically used for installations, our loudspeakers also work well for live events,” said Fulcrum’s David Gunness, who, along with Rich Frembes, also provided FOH engineer support for the event. “The Xxodus Café needed a sound system that offered vocal clarity for the panel discussion but enough musicality to support the eclectic mix of DJs and bands on the program that evening.”
The duo worked their mixing chops on Tevellus, a fusion band with influences from Middle Eastern, Indian, jazz, and funk music, and Shango Axe, a band blending roots reggae, club and dance hall styles.
Fulcrum lent their expertise to the event citing the need to support non-profit cultural institutions like the integral Sound Session organizer, the Providence Black Repertory Company. Fulcrum’s support will continue through to the end of the festival, with Fulcrum gear making another appearance during the grand parade and outdoor concert.
