CX896 Debuts in Rhode Island Statehouse

PROVIDENCE – The State Assembly Hearing Room in the historic Rhode Island Statehouse has been fitted with a new sound reinforcement system featuring the recently introduced CX896 8-inch coaxial loudspeaker, from Fulcrum Acoustic.

y, the hearing room in the east wing of the 106 year-old structure had been plagued by poor intelligibility and severe feedback. The sound system was often turned off as a consequence, meaning there was no audio feed available for Capitol TV. The new system installed by AV Design Build, of Boston, eliminated these problems by incorporating 4 wall-mounted CX896 loudspeakers. The well-defined 90° x 60° coverage pattern of the CX896 allowed both the legislators’ dais and the gallery to be well-covered, while minimizing leakage into the witness microphones.
AV Design Build’s Richard O’Connel had this to say: “Using the CX896’s stock processor settings, I was able to turn on all 24 microphones in the room, with no automixer and no feedback – Capitol TV was thrilled with the results. And, the speakers look great. I didn’t get a single complaint about appearance, and that can be a big issue in historical spaces like this.”
